Davide Battistin x The Great Gatsby
a new collection illustrated by our artists
lineadacqua gallery presents Classic Collection, a new series of publications made in Venice in which the works of our artists illustrate the covers of some of the greatest literary masterpieces of all time.
The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald inaugurates the series, accompanied by the painting The Green Light by Davide Battistin. Published in 1925, Fitzgerald’s masterpiece is a portrait of the excesses and decadence of the American Jazz Age – the famous Roaring Twenties.
Nick Carraway, a young man who has just moved to Long Island, retraces the events of the summer of 1922: his meeting with the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his obsession to be reunited with his youthful love, Daisy Buchanan, married to the rich and unfaithful Tom Buchanan.
“Involuntarily I glanced seaward—and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock. When I looked once more for Gatsby he had vanished, and I was alone again in the unquiet darkness.”
The book is now available at our gallery, where you can also admire the original painting accompanying this new edition.
Soon to be published: Youth by Joseph Conrad, whose cover features a work by Vittorio Marella.
