Andrea Avezzù's photographs reveal the stuff of dreams, forcing our addicted eyes to discover the wonders of Venice.
Born in Venice in 1980, he has acquired extensive experience in art and architecture photography since 2005.
He is the official photographer for the Venice Biennale, for which he carries out the photographic documentation of the works displayed in the Art and Architecture exhibitions, and of the Dance, Theatre and Music events. He has been collaborating for years with international architecture studios and with the leading Venetian cultural institutions – such as Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Fondazione Querini Stampalia, Musei Civici, Fondazione Pinault. He has taught photography courses at the Scuola dei Tre Oci in Venice and was a long-standing board member of the historic Circolo fotografico la Gondola in Venice.
His photographs have been published in the world's leading newspapers and art and architecture magazines. He collaborates with international artists, photographing their works for catalogues and publications. Recent events include the Anselm Kiefer exhibition at Palazzo Ducale in 2022.
In 2016, he exhibited his photographic project, consisting of five large images, at the Italian Pavilion for the 15th Architecture Biennale. In 2019, one of his works was selected for the stained glass window of a new church in Viareggio, Tuscany. For the first time in the history of the Catholic Church and photography, a photographic work has been used in a religious building. The image, inserted in a stained glass window of enormous dimensions (14x6 metres), is inspired by the celestial vault of Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel.
Andrea Avezzù has exhibited his work at the Casa Tre Oci, the Fondazione Querini Stampalia, lineadacqua gallery and various other galleries.
